The Spirit of Babylon will fall

October 12, 2024

Did you know the fall of Babylon took place on this day, Oct. 12th 539 BC.? What does this have to do with your corporate career? Keep reading. This month in prayer, the Lord is leading us in repentance and revealing our hearts so He alone would have first place in our careers and lives. The beautiful thing about corporate prayer is that as each person hears from the Lord and sees in part, by praying in unity we can capture the fullness of God’s heart in the matter and pray/intercede with greater precision and accuracy.

In the last two weeks, the Lord revealed a prayer tactic through this historical fact. As we ask the Lord to purify our hearts, we are praying against the spirit of Babylon. Babylon was the historic oppressor of Israel in the Old Testament and known as a city of pride and idolatry. Today, the spirit of Babylon is a system representing the kingdoms of this world that are in opposition to the kingdom of God. It promotes a culture of fear, deception, seduction and idolatry. So our prayer for every believer in the workplace is out of Revelation 18:4, “COME OUT of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues.” We are called to be in this world but not of it. We called to influence corporate culture for the Kingdom of God, not be shaped by it.

Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues.
— Revelations 18:4

Our prayer call on Oct. 3rd landed on Rosh HaShanah, the Jewish new year also known as the Feasts of Trumpets in the scriptures. This holiday marks the beginning of the 10 Days of Awe which is a time of reflection and repentance leading up to Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement. This day is a reminder that Jesus Christ is the ultimate and only atonement for our sins. Through His shed blood, the barrier of sin that once separated us from God is lifted, bringing us back into fellowship with the one true, living God. This year, Yom Kippur concludes today, Oct.12th and as I mentioned above, the fall of Babylon took place on Oct. 12th, 539 B.C. So how does this tie together?

We believe the Lord speaks in a variety of ways and as we felt the Lord’s desire to deal with our hearts, He used this historical date and His appointed times to highlight the purification required for people of God to take dominion in their spheres of influence. Idolatry, pride and deception must be confronted and uprooted at a heart level. We cannot serve 2 gods and we cannot work on behalf of 2 kingdoms. It is time for the people of God to arise and shine in the marketplace in a new and powerful way but this move of God requires pure hearts and clean hands submitted to the will of the Father.

Idolatry, pride and deception must be confronted and uprooted at a heart level.

Like Daniel in Babylon, we are called to live set apart, to abide in the place of prayer and to not be seduced by worldly riches. So here is our declaration:

We declare that the spirit of Babylon will fall from the hearts of men and women in the marketplace and be supplanted by the spirit of the Lord, spirit of wisdom, spirit of understanding, spirit of counsel,  spirit of might & the spirit of the fear of the Lord. So that we walk in the authority and dominion of Kingdom of God to fulfill His purposes.
